Hamlet

spring 2016

Playing Rosencrantz in IWU's Hamlet was my first mainstage role at Wesleyan, and I absolutely could not have asked for a better experience. Working with director and teacher Chris Connelly was incredible; I learned so much about playing and experimenting in rehearsal, and being able to breathe such life into a play that I had previously thought of with less wiggle room with was so rewarding.  Additionally, I got to explore Rosencrantz as a woman, which an absolute delight!  Lines such as "My lord, you once did love me" took on new layers of meaning, gender roles in our time period we set gave me specific information, and I was able to work to build my Rosencrantz into a happy, bubbly, not-stupid-but-slightly-dim-witted multidimensional character.
